On Monday a panel of federal judges ruled that want to ease overcrowding in the California prisons. They could release up to 57,000 prisoners and save up to $906 million annually. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation disagrees with the ruling and will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
The Good News – the prisoners that are not so lucky to get a “get out of jail” free card will have more personal space, they won’t have to share the remote to the flat screen – maybe now that can ask for seconds at the buffet line.
The Bad News – the money they think they are going to save will be spent by local, state and federal law enforcement arresting the criminals again!
